Air Bearings Limited (ABL) are a world leading innovative manufacturer of air bearing solutions, used across the engineering spectrum; whilst we are based in Ferndown (Dorset), we provide real world solutions globally.

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical Engineering) to join us at a busy and exciting time; This is a permanent, full-time position (38 hours per week, Mon-Fri), working within a small and friendly team

You will provide pro-active and re-active support to the routine and preventative maintenance requirements for machinery and equipment across the factory, supporting the smooth running of production.

What will the role involve?

  • Responding immediately to urgent machine / equipment breakdowns
  • Maintain and service all machinery / plant / equipment from programmed schedules
  • Take a forward thinking and proactive approach to diagnosing and rectifying problems
  • Documenting and record keeping of all maintenance and repair activity
  • Execute other property / facilities / maintenance duties as required including and not restricted to lighting, heating & ventilation and plumbing services
  • Provide support for new installations and or new processes within the factory
  • Control and maintain stock levels of necessary machine spares and consumable items
  • Must ensure a proactive and collaborative approach with the shop floor is built and maintained to ensure required tasks/issues are effectively communicated and a ‘solutions-focused’ approach is taken
  • Prepared to drive within local distances i.e. collecting supplies/equipment etc.

What will you require?

  • Experience in a similar role is essential
  • Experience diagnosing/rectifying faults on similar machinery i.e. manual and CNC machinery is essential (i.e. Mazak, Studer, to name a few)
  • Experience with COSHH is essential
  • It is desirable to hold a Scissor Lift/Cherry Picker and or Fork Lift Truck license (training will be provided in the absence of a license)
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others at all levels.
  • Ability to work to strict regimes and deadlines
  • Attention to detail/quality issues.
  • Take a proactive approach to ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, ensuring relationships are built and maintained
  • Flexible approach
  • Clean and Valid UK Driver’s License is essential
